HISTORY OF THE WESCOMBE NAME

Humphries Construction held a ‘Naming Competition’ in July 2016 to get the local community involved with the naming of this new and exciting sub-division.  With the help of 92.2 MORE FM, the Feilding Rangitikei Herald and the Manawatu Standard we received over 100 submissions all of which held some merit.

After wading through the various names and reasons for their submission, WESCOMBE stood out due to the steep history associated with the Feilding region and the Makino Butter Factory which was located just down the road from the now named, WESCOMBE GROVE.

Congratulations went to Michele and Gerald Doyle who submitted the winning name, WESCOMBE GROVE.  They were presented with a prize pack full of goodies and vouchers all from local Feilding Businesses at the unveiling of the WESCOMBE GROVE sign at the main entrance.

Thanks to The Strong Room Restaurant & Bar, Manfeild, Feilding & District Steam Rail, Focal Point Cinema, Coach House Museum, Makino Swimming Pool and I Scream for Ice Cream for contributing towards the prize pack.
