Quantity Surveyor Intermediate


1. The main duties of the Quantity Surveyor role are varied and the role is flexible. The role will predominantly be to assist the Senior QS and Project Managers.

2. The suitable person needs to be able to demonstrate competency in the following tasks (residential and commercial):

  • Assist with meeting new clients and understanding their requirements and instructions.
  • Assist with ensuring all main contractor components of tenders are priced competitively and accurately by at least the day prior to deadline.
  • Assist with ensuring all tenders comply with legal and customer requirements, specifications and plans.
  • Assist with negotiating to ensure that all rates from suppliers and sub-contractors are the best available at the time.
  • Assist with liaising regularly with subtrades to ensure up to date knowledge of current prices/rates.
  • Assist with liaising with architects, consultants, engineers as the need arises.
  • Assist with developing a plan for commencement of the project, including; organising the setting up of the site, all compliance requirements, sub-trade engagement, liaising with other external stakeholders such as Engineers, Architects and sub-trades.
  • Understand the requirements for appropriate staffing of the project.
  • Work alongside and effectively communicate with the Site Manager / Foreman to assist wherever possible with on-site requirements
  • Assist with the management of the various stages of the project using computer based software and reporting to the Project Managers (or General Manager) as required
  • Have a very good knowledge of legislation that is relevant to the construction industry
  • Complete all required documentation and compliance processes to
  • ensure the project runs smoothly, stays within budget, is accurate and of high quality
  • Assist with meeting with the client to ensure satisfaction and all defects are remedied
  • Participate when required in final hand-over to client including ensuring CCC has been issued.
